My primary interest has long been in the
development and dissemination of knowledge. I decided to study computer science
in 1980 because
war is the ultimate evil and better communication
capabilities across time and space will connect
peoples and eventually prevent governments from
behaving like toddlers with handguns. In the mid
1980's, I worked for Packet Technologies and SRI
International. In the late 1980's, I developed
and demonstrated the first systems able to transmit
and record shared desktop interactions incorporating
simultaneous drawing and
voice on PCs and Macintosh.
In the early 90's, I returned to MIT and was awarded two MS
degrees in Management of Technology (Sloan) and Media
Arts and Science. During the 90's, I was was
interned at McLean Hospital and like institutions six
times. I was also then a director of the
Richard Lounsbery
Foundation.
I am
currently consulting for CEETI to develop
5,
10,
20 and 40 year plans for
land transportation
technology. I hope to get back to improving on the "open source"
ideology with systematic means for managing
contributions, negotiating ownership and paying out
compensation so that people can earn a living doing
the kinds of things that I do.. |
